Jamba headed up the path, heartache subsiding and happiness settling itself back into place. He approached the white building that was the laboratory, saying hello to most of the people that he passed as he jogged along. He wasn't even out of breath, he was just jogging along like that was all he'd done his whole life. Endurance had built up after training with Claire...

He slowed to a halt when he came to the doors of the lab, dark caramel colored eyes looking it over up and down. Tail swaying, he nocked once so that they would know he was coming in, and then pushed the door open. He let his head turn to see the pokemon cluttering the area after squeezing through the gap that the door left, as he had tried to make it small so that he wouldn't hit anything or anyone that might be resting near the entryway.

"Hello? I'm here for my starter... At least, that's what I think I'm here for." Truthfully, Jamba didn't even know if he had the right town, for crying out loud. Despite the fact that the place looked like a lab, he was nervous. He never really was nervous, but he still had that heartache hangover and this was an entirely new place.. Nothing like the place where he had grown up, back on Johto.

The Professor looked up curiously as Jamba entered, being the first visitor in quite a while. Not to mention that his unique appearance took the woman by surprise. "Oh, hello there. Welcome to Sunnydale! So, do you know which starter you want?" the woman asked after recovering, placing a pokeball she had been polishing on her desk. She walked over to the male, her Eevee bounding along at her heel. "Oh, I am Donna, the professor here. We have a list posted on the wall if you need help deciding," she added, a broad smile plastered on her face.

<Yeah~ There's lots of Pokemon here that need good trainers. I'd hate to be stuck in this lab and have only Birdie and us to play with~> the Eevee chimed. His words brought a snort from a nearby Charmander, the firey lizard in the process of picking some books off the floor. The Eevee looked at her companion, momentarily dumbfounded. <Oh, wait! Uh... that didn't come out the way I meant,> the Eevee started, realizing his mistake. He laughed it off and twirled around Donna's leg.

With that worry cleared, he smiled and pricked his ears, listening to the professor and the pokemon that chimed in as well. "I'm not quite sure yet... Oh, I'm Katamaze. People call me Jamba most of the time, though," He replied after the eevee was done, and then headed over to the list, tail swaying gently all the way.

He lifted a bandage-covered hand and ran his index finger down the names, invisioning the pokemon in his head. He couldn't bear to have a shinx- it would remind him too much of his old friend in Blackthorn. He picked out a few that he might choose, and then turned to Professor Donna.

"Could I meet a cyndaquil, eevee, spinarak, poochyena, and ralts?" He asked, removing his finger from the paper, having forgotten it was still there. He smiled slightly, trying not to bare his sharp teeth.. They scared people sometimes.

Donna bowed in response to the given name. "Pleasure to meet you," she said as he walked over to the list. They didn't get many Pokemorphs around here, but the Professor was used to them. And, unlike some others, she realized that they, just like both Pokemon and Humans, were unique and intelligent, living beings. Racism really bothered her, as it was one of the things the world struggled with on a daily basis. So maany were hurt by it...

After a while of studying the list, the male relayed the Pokemon he wished to meet. It wasn't really much trouble, so the Professor didn't mind. "Alright, one moment," she said. Walking over to a nearby shelf that was filled with Pokeballs, she began picking through them, gathering up five orbs that held the requested Pokemon. Meanwhile, the Eevee finally left her side to go behind the desk. The Pokemon trotted over to the male before the professor did, dropping a pack on the floor beside him.

Then the woman was back in front of Jamba, releasing all five of the Pokemon. They were, in the order requested: A slow and gifted Male Cyndaquil, a unintentionally helpful and careful male Eevee, a rebellious and arrogant female Spinarak, a hyperactive and admiring shiny male poochyena, and a glamorous and forgetful male Ralts who knew two egg moves.



The Cyndaquil looked about with a blank expression on his face, not seeming to be aware that he was even out of his pokeball. Finally it dawned on him, and he smiled brightly. It took a moment more to spot the trainer, and a little longer to actually speak. <Konichiwa~> the Pokemon said with a little bow. <Como estas?> he asked, speaking in Spanish this time.

The Eevee looked about, walking around and watching his steps carefully. Still, avoiding the Professor's Eevee who was bounding back to Donna's side, he ran into the desk. A pitcher of water tipped and spilled a good bit, but then regained its balance. The water landed in a pot that held a tree-like plant. <Oops...> the Pokemon said.

"Ah, thanks Eevee, that one less thing I have to do today," the Professor remarked brightly, causing the Eevee to blush.

The Spinarak let off a loud 'Harrumph' and walked away from the trainer. He stopped a few feet away from the others, refusing to look at any of them. <You all are pathetic! Like I need a trainer to make me strong!> he spat.

The Poochyena gave of a loud and excited 'yip' as he was released, racing around the lab at a hyperactive speed. Finally, he turned his attention to Jamba, dancing circles around him. <Oooh~ You have big muscles~ And so tall! I bet you could beat ANYONE!> the Pokemon admired, his approval shining in his eyes.

The Ralts virtually shimmered as he was released, spinning glamorously. He looked as if he jus floated as he moved nearer the trainer. <Hello~ You're a new trainer, right?> the Pokemon greeted with a small bow. He walked around a bit more, turning away from Jamba for a moment. When the Pokemon turned back, he looked shocked. <Oh, a new trainer? When did you get here?> he asked, seeming to have forgotten all about Jamba.

"Well... would you like any of these as a companion?" professor Donna asked, Eevee giggling lightly as he bumped into the woman's leg.

In the luxray pokemorph's mind, they were all great companions- even the spinarak. He wasn't thinking about how they would do in battle, or how they would treat him- or how powerful they would be later on.

He smiled at them all, though the shiny pokemon caught his eye. No, not because he was sparkly- it was his astounding energy. Since Jamba himself loved to play, the little hound would be the perfect companion- he was kind of happy and carefree, and had seemingly endless energy.

Jamba knelt down and, though he couldn't manage to actually pet the creature with his bandaged up hands, he could watch the wolf pup dance around him. It brought back just enough memory, but not the overwhelming sad amount that a shinx would have brought. "I like your energy, little one," he said to the poochyena, smiling even broader than before.

Standing up, he had his answer. No, it wasn't because it was special- he had actually tried not to pick the pokemon because it was shiny.. Most people would do that. he was riding the plane of personality, however. "The poochyena, if I may?"

The professor nodded, then recalled the other Pokemon. "All right then, I can see you two as being great partners. Oh, I see you already were given your pack... thanks buddy," the professor remarked, just noticing the pack that had been left by her Eevee. "I guess that means you are all ready to go! Well, take care then!" the woman piped cheerfully.

<Be careful too. There are some bad people out there who like to hurt Pokemon... and especially humans with pokemon genes, or vice versa,> the small Eevee said, suddenly turning serious. Then he was back to his smiling,, happy self. <Hey, be sure to check out the pizza place in town!! They have some yummy stuff! You'd never know it was healthy~!>
